Approve, pay, paid: three different problems
Splitting amount to approve from amount to pay is the distinction that makes this page useful. To approve is a manager's queue and a delay in it is a people problem. To pay is finance's queue and a delay in it is a cash decision. Reporting them as one "outstanding" figure hides which one is actually stuck.
Spend by category is where policy questions get answered, and top spending employees is worth reading as a workload signal as often as a spend signal: the person with the highest travel spend is usually the person travelling most.
Who it's for
Finance teams and approving managers, especially in companies where expense approval is spread across several managers and nobody owns the overall number. If month-end regularly surfaces expenses nobody knew were pending, the amount-to-approve tile is the one that fixes that.

How do I see employee expenses to approve and pay on one screen in Odoo?
Install Expenses Dashboard. It adds a Dashboard as the first item in the Expenses app with live KPIs for total expenses, amounts to approve, to pay and paid, plus eight charts by employee, category and status.
Can managers see only their own team's expenses in the Odoo dashboard?
Yes. Every KPI and chart is read as the logged in user, so your expense access rules apply. An approver sees the spend they are responsible for, while finance admins see the whole company, all on the same dashboard.
Can I filter the Odoo expenses dashboard by date range?
Yes. One click ranges like Today, This Month, This Quarter, This Year, Last 12 Months or a custom range re-query every KPI and all eight charts at once, so you can review amounts to approve, to pay and paid across any period.
Can I run the Odoo Expenses dashboard on Community, or does it need Enterprise?
It works on both. Odoo's Expenses app ships in Community, so the dashboard runs on a standard Community install with no Enterprise subscription. It is maintained for the current major Odoo versions; use the version selector on this page to pick your release.
Why are amount to approve and amount to pay separate figures?
Because they are two different queues with two different owners. To approve is stuck with a manager. To pay is stuck with finance. Reporting them as one outstanding figure hides which one is actually blocked, which is usually the whole question.
