Odoo for Manufacturing

Manufacturers rarely fail on Odoo's core MRP. They fail on the edges: quality checks that live outside the production record, lot history nobody can reconstruct, and scrap handled on paper. That is where our work sits.

What usually breaks

The problems we keep meeting.

Quality control running alongside production instead of inside it

Lot and serial history that cannot be reconstructed for an audit

Scrap recorded informally, so yield numbers never quite reconcile

Inventory counts that halt the floor because everyone sees the expected figure

What we do about it

How we fix it in Odoo.

Production configured to your real routes

We configure Manufacturing around how the plant actually runs, then extend only where standard behaviour genuinely does not fit.

Quality tied to the production record

Control points attached to manufacturing operations, so a check belongs to the order rather than sitting beside it.

Traceability you can hand to an auditor

Full lot and serial movement history, reportable end to end, including component-level explosion for kits and BoMs.

Counting that does not stop the line

Blind and dual-count inventory so counters record what they see rather than confirming what the system expects.

Questions

About Odoo for manufacturing.

Is Odoo good enough for real manufacturing?

For discrete and light process manufacturing, yes. Odoo handles BoMs, routings, work centres, quality and traceability natively. Heavily regulated or highly specialised process industries usually need extension work, which is normal for any ERP in that space.

Can Odoo handle lot and serial traceability for audits?

Natively it tracks lots and serials. What auditors usually want on top is a readable movement history per lot, which is the gap we most often fill.

Do we need Odoo Enterprise for manufacturing?

Core MRP is in Community. Some advanced features such as PLM and certain quality tooling are Enterprise. We check the specific features you need against your edition before recommending anything.
