Odoo for Logistics and Shipping

Logistics work on Odoo is usually about dates and evidence. When is it actually arriving, what did we promise per line, and can we prove what moved. Standard Odoo answers some of that, not all of it.

What usually breaks

The problems we keep meeting.

One delivery date per order line when shipments are staggered

Container ETAs tracked outside the system, on a carrier portal

Receipt dates on a purchase order that do not reflect phased arrivals

Stock movement history that is hard to read when someone asks what happened

What we do about it

How we fix it in Odoo.

Dates per line, not per order

Multiple scheduled delivery dates per sale line, each generating its own dated picking, with no manual splitting.

Live container ETA on the PO

Ocean container status and ETA pulled onto the purchase order, so the buyer sees it where they work.

Phased receipts

Multiple receipt dates per purchase order line, matching how the goods actually arrive.

Movement history you can audit

Readable stock movement and stock card reporting, so the answer to what moved is one report away.

Questions

About Odoo for logistics & shipping.

Can an Odoo sale order line have more than one delivery date?

Not natively. One date per line is the standard model, which is why staggered shipments need an extension that generates a dated picking per scheduled date.

Can Odoo track ocean containers?

Through a tracking provider's API. We pull live status and ETA onto the purchase order so buyers stop checking a carrier portal separately.

Does Odoo have a stock card report?

Not in the form most logistics teams expect. Native reporting covers moves and valuation, and a readable per-product movement ledger is a common addition.
