Parcel Packing Video and Proof of Packing

Packing Video records what actually went into the box. The packer presses one button on the delivery order, films the parcel, and the clip is stored against that transfer. When the delivery is validated the customer receives a private link to watch it, so a missing item claim can be answered with the footage instead of a conversation.

What it does

Disputes about what was in a parcel are usually unwinnable, because the evidence was never captured. A photo taken on a packer's phone lives on that phone, is not attached to the transfer, and is gone when the person leaves. This module makes the proof part of the picking flow. Recording happens inside Odoo, from the delivery order, using the device camera through the browser, so there is nothing to install on a packer's phone and nothing to upload by hand. The clip is compressed while it is being filmed rather than afterwards, which is why there is no ffmpeg and no external video service anywhere in the module.

Because the recording is evidence, it is treated as evidence. The file, and the record of who took it and when, cannot be altered by the warehouse user who made it. Once a transfer is validated the clip cannot be replaced. A Settings administrator can still delete a recording deliberately, for a data erasure request or a mis recorded clip, and doing so writes a permanent note into the chatter naming who deleted it and when, so the audit trail outlives the evidence.

Requiring a video is set per operation type, so you can demand one on outgoing deliveries and leave receipts untouched. Where a warehouse uses two or three step delivery, record at Pick or Pack, which is where packing actually happens, and the Ship transfer picks that recording up automatically so the customer email still goes out at dispatch.

The customer page is branded with your company logo and carries a private, unguessable token. It is marked no index so search engines never list it, the Download button can be switched off, and the whole link can be revoked from the transfer at any time. Capture quality is yours to set, covering resolution, frame rate, bitrate, maximum duration and a maximum file size that uploads are refused above. A retention window can delete recordings automatically a chosen number of days after the transfer was validated, or you can leave it at zero and keep them forever.

Who it's for

Online sellers and third party logistics operators who face missing item claims and card chargebacks, and any warehouse that wants a verifiable record of what left it. It is most useful where the cost of a single dispute is higher than the cost of filming every parcel, and where the people packing are not the people who have to answer for the parcel later.
