Overview

Dynamic Pricelist Calculator for eCommerce.

The shop half of Dynamic Pricelist Calculator. Whatever measurements a calculator declares are rendered on the product page as ordinary numeric fields, and typing one refreshes the price in place, the same way choosing a variant does. Adding the same product at a second size creates a second cart line rather than merging into the first, because core merges on product and options and a typed measurement is neither. Every cart line carries the breakdown that produced its price, with cost derived steps already collapsed. It installs itself as soon as both the calculator and eCommerce are present.

How it works

Built around what you actually do.

Every screen below is the module running in Odoo, not a mockup.

01

The measurements a calculator declares are rendered on the product page, with their units and their bounds

  • Typing a measurement refreshes the price in place, with no page reload
  • Two sizes of the same product become two cart lines, not one merged line of two

02

Every cart line shows the steps that produced its price, cost derived steps already collapsed

  • The measurements are printed under each cart line, so an order says what was actually asked for
  • A value beyond the calculator's maximum is refused at the shop, not quietly reduced to fit

03

A cart with a measurement still blank cannot be confirmed

  • Installs itself as soon as both the price calculator and eCommerce are present

What it does

Dynamic Pricelist Calculator for eCommerce brings the calculator to the shop. Whatever measurements a product's calculator declares, such as width, height, thickness, a cut count or an edge length, are rendered on the product page as ordinary numeric fields, each carrying its own unit and its own bounds. Typing one refreshes the price in place, so a shopper sees what their size costs before anything reaches the cart.

The cart is where the module earns its place. Odoo merges a repeat add into an existing line whenever the product, the unit and the options match, and a typed measurement is none of those. Without the override, a customer who orders a 2.0 m pane and then a 1.2 m pane ends up with two of the first size, charged the wrong amount for a size they never asked for, and nothing anywhere says so. Here each measured line stays its own, prints the measurements it was ordered at, and lists the steps that produced its price.

Who it's for

Anyone already selling made to measure goods on an Odoo shop, or wanting to: glass and glazing, sign and wide format print, steel and metal service centres, fabric and roll goods, blinds and shutters, worktops, and made to measure furniture. It requires Dynamic Pricelist Calculator, which holds the pricing engine and the industry preset packs.

Questions

About Dynamic Pricelist Calculator for eCommerce.

What does this add to Dynamic Pricelist Calculator?

The shop. The calculator on its own prices quotations and sales orders in the backend. This renders the same measurements on the eCommerce product page, prices the line from what the shopper types, and carries the breakdown through to the cart.

Do I need to install this separately?

You do not have to install it by hand. It installs itself as soon as both Dynamic Pricelist Calculator and eCommerce are present. It is a separate module because the calculator is useful on quotations with no website at all, and the shop code imports from website_sale, which cannot be a conditional dependency inside one manifest.

Does the price really update without reloading the page?

Yes. Typing a measurement refreshes the figure in place, the same way choosing a variant does. Nothing is added to the cart in order to find out the price.

What happens if a customer orders the same product at two different sizes?

They become two cart lines. Odoo merges a repeat add into the existing line whenever the product, unit and options match, and a typed measurement is none of those, so without this the second size would silently become a quantity of two at the first size. That is the failure the module exists to prevent, and it has no error message of its own.

Why does a made to measure product show 0.00 on the shop grid?

Because a grid has no measurements to compute from, and the module refuses to invent one. The price appears on the product page as soon as the measurements are filled in. A cart still carrying a blank measurement cannot be confirmed, so a 0.00 can never become a real order at no charge. If you would rather advertise a starting figure, set a sales price on the product and the grid will show it.

Can a customer see how their price was calculated?

Each cart line lists the steps that produced its figure and what each one contributed. Steps derived from cost are collapsed into one labelled remainder, so the rows still add up to the price without publishing your margin.

Does it work with my existing pricelists?

Yes. The shop prices from the website's pricelist exactly as it did before. The calculator is a Price Type on an ordinary pricelist rule, so date windows, minimum quantities and customer pricelists keep working.
