Why the partner matters more than the software
Odoo is capable and flexible, which also means it can be configured badly. A good partner maps your processes to Odoo, keeps standard where standard works and customises only where it adds value. A weak one either forces your business to bend to a default setup, or over-customises until every upgrade is painful.
What to look for
- Odoo certification and real experience. Certification shows they know the framework; a track record shows they can deliver with it.
- Relevant industry knowledge. A partner who has implemented for businesses like yours will anticipate the awkward parts.
- A clear methodology. Discovery, a signed-off blueprint, testing and a planned cutover, not "we will start configuring and see".
- Proof you can check. References, projects in production and public work such as apps on the official Odoo Apps Store.
- Support after go-live. Ask what happens the week after launch, and who owns your upgrades a year later.

Red flags
Be wary of a partner who quotes a firm price before understanding your processes, who reaches for custom code before configuration, or who goes quiet on what happens after launch. A healthy engagement scopes first and is clear about the whole life of the system, not just go-live.
