Case study: E-Commerce

Warehouse to storefront to ledger

A Gulf retail and e-commerce group needed one platform from warehouse through to ledger, plus a storefront that could take card payments through a regionally supported gateway.

Scope

ERP, e-commerce, payment gateway

The challenge

What was not working.

The business needed a single platform spanning inventory, sales, purchasing and accounting, and a customer-facing store on top of it. The blocker was payments: the storefront had to accept cards through a gateway supported in the region, which Odoo does not integrate out of the box.

What we built

The work, in detail.

One platform from stock to ledger

Inventory, Sales, Purchasing and Accounting integrated so warehouse activity flows through to finance without a manual bridge.

A dynamic customer portal

Customers see their orders, documents and account against the same records the business runs on.

A custom payment gateway module

We developed a module integrating the HyperPay gateway, so card payments are taken securely inside the storefront rather than handed off elsewhere.

Warehouse to finance in one flow

Stock movements, sales and purchasing post through to the accounts as one connected operation.

The result

What changed.

One connected platform from stock through storefront to ledger

Regional card payments handled natively in the storefront

Customers self-serve through the portal

No manual bridge between warehouse activity and finance

Modules behind this

Productised from real work.

Work from engagements like this one becomes a published module, so the next client installs it instead of paying to build it again.

Questions

About work like this.

Does Odoo support Gulf payment gateways out of the box?

Not generally. Odoo ships integrations for the major global providers, so regionally supported gateways such as HyperPay usually need a custom payment provider module.

Can Odoo run the online store and the ERP together?

Yes, and that is its strongest case. The store reads the same products, stock and customers as the back office, so there is no synchronisation layer to maintain.

What does a custom payment provider module involve?

Implementing Odoo's payment provider interface for that gateway, covering the payment flow, callbacks and transaction states, so a completed payment reliably marks the order paid.
