How do I see open and overdue tasks on one screen in Odoo Project?

Install Project Dashboard. It adds a Dashboard as the first item in the Project app with live KPIs for active projects, open, done, overdue and unassigned tasks, plus eight charts by project, stage, priority and assignee.

Can I click a chart to see the tasks behind it?

Yes. Every KPI tile and chart segment is clickable and opens the underlying tasks already filtered, so you move from a number straight to the records.

Does the Odoo project dashboard work in dark mode?

Yes. The whole dashboard is theme aware, so KPIs, charts, tooltips and cards stay readable when Odoo is switched to dark mode.
